Side Street Gallery Closing

Sadly, Side Street Gallery, my first gallery representation, is closing its doors this week. Like many other small, local businesses, the gallery could not sustain the current economy.
I will be auctioning several pieces of work that were displayed at the gallery, on ebay.

Below is "Farm in Fall," A 5X7 watercolor sketch, matted and framed. Bidding starts at $0.99

A Few Other Things.... December 9, 2009

I have been working on a few other things aside from leaves... I like to keep busy, but vary my subject matter a bit. Anyone viewing my website should see that I divide my evening painting time between a series of abstracts, figurative works, small "daily" paintings, and the occassional commissioned work (usually charcoal).
Here are a few things I have completed this week... (Dec 2 - Dec 9)

"Sincere"
9X12, oil on canvas
(abstract)

Still untitled....
24X30, oil on canvas
(figurative)

"Looking Ahead"
18X24, oil on canvas
(This is a recent self portrait I painted to have as an example for those seeking commissioned portraits)

"Leaves" Painting a Day 3

I realized I completely forgot Leaf 3!
Here it is, another yellow one.... Although this has become a "painting-every-other-day" endeavor, I am considering moving along to branches all well... more to come!

"Leaves" Painting a Day 4

I already had a friend mention that "those small leaf paintings would look great in a row on a shelf or on the wall," lovely! Exactly what I was thinking! I would like to have at least five before I think about bringing them to Side Street Gallery or selling at auction on ebay... So, in the meantime, here is "Leaf III" a personal favorite so far!

"Leaves" Painting a Day 2

Day Two - "Leaf II" !

Red ones seem more difficult to find in my neighborhood.. Lots of yellow though (secretly, my favorite color!)

"Leaves" painting a day

With a full time job, children and my painting habits (that is, never being able to stick to one thing...) I don't have much time for a "painting a day," like many artists. Its unfortunate though, because it it so much fun to start something and finish it in one day - Who doesn't love "instant gratification"??? So... I'll try it for a week to start... a "leaf a day" - in celebration of fall!

................... I have been busy with both abstract and figurative pieces lately, I like the idea of finding a way to meld these two ideas together in some way.... I very much enjoy both processes and the emotion I am able to express through both. As always, I'll wait and see where it leads me!
